Beauty and the Beast Help
Hiya all ! This is my first post in this discussion board. I am still a beginner in the subject of fairy tale. I need to write a ten-research paper about Beauty and the Beast. However, I can't seemed to decide what to write about Beauty and the Beast. I need to fidn a specific topic that is not too narrow and not too broad for a ten page paper. Can you all please give me some suggestion about which part of Beauty and the Beast I should focus on. Thank you so much.

What have you have stumbled into is a nest of academics and storytellers and writers and teachers, all of whom feel that--while we are glad to help someone writing a paper--think the narrowing of focus is the student-author's problem. You come up with the topic, and we will be glad to give you quotable lines!

Re: topics
Here's an article on the history of Beauty and the Beast -- perhaps
this would help: www.endicott-studio.com/forbewty.html.
Is your subject the history of the tale itself, or literary re-tellings, or media re-tellings, or psychological interpretations...or perhaps all of the above?

Re: topics
I guessed it's more of a psychological interpretation, maybe a feminist interpretation. Actually, I wanted to focus on the Beast. But I am not sure if I will be able to find enough materials or things to write about the Beast. I am also thinking on focusing perhaps on the Cupid and Psyche versions or the Beaumont version of Beauty and the Beast.

Re: topics
I'd suggest getting hold of Betsy Hearne's book "Beauty and the Beast," which is an excellent history of the tale with a lot of good commentary. I don't know if it's still in print, but if not, the on-line used ook services could probably help you. I like your notion of focusing on the Beast himself. And don't forget "East of the Sun, West of the Moon," which shares some of the same animal bridegroom motifs as B & B and Cupid & Psyche.
