question about a spin-off of Cinderella book
I stumbled across this board searching for the title and author of a novel I saw the other day at Barnes and Noble.
It's a fairly recent publication, within the last three or so years, I'd say, and is about the story of one of Cinderella's stepsisters. I think she lives in Denmark.
I believe the title had something about sister or step sister in it, but I'm not sure.
The edition I saw was softback but pretty fancy, nice illustrations and good paper.
I'm pretty sure the book was written by a man and there was a blurb by John Updike on the cover praising it.
If anyone could give me the title and/or author of this book I'd appreciate it. Also a review if you've read it and you're willing. I think I'd be interested in reading it. Thank you.

You stumbled on Gregory Maguire's "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister."
It is a fine retelling of Cinderella by the author who also penned
"Wicked."

And it will be appearing in movie form on ABC sometime in the upcoming TV season, so expect to see it have a higher profile for a while. It also just got released in paperback which will help, too.
