Re: Yaqui Easter ceremony Carrie: I only know how to get to the ones in Tucson, but I'm sure it's happening in the Phoenix area too since there's a Yaqui community up there. Look in the phone book, in the government listings, for tribal governments, and call the Yaqui government center or community center nearest you. They'll tell you where the nearest dance is. I'm going to the one at Old Pasqua tonight and tomorrow, which is off Grant Road in Tucson. (I can give you directions to that one, if all else fails. In fact, I'll put it here, since I won't be on-line again today: Take Grant Road approx. 1 mile west of Oracle, look for Coors Ambulance Service on the left, and turn south on any of those little streets. You'll see all the parked cars, so just find a place to park and follow the people and noise to the plaza. There will be deer dancers there, among other things. If you come at night, bring warm clothes; if you come during the day tomorrow, bring a sun hat and plenty of water. Also, if you go tonight, Friday, which is the night evil triumphs in the dance, my Yaqui friends say it's important to go tomorrow also, so that you participate in the redemption, where evil is conquered by prayers, deer dances and flowers.)
