Board down on April 24 Everyone gets a holiday on Tuesday from the board. EZBoard will be moving its servers and will consequently be down on Tuesday, April 24th. Please do not get discouraged on that day if you cannot reach the board.
Our early morning posters will probably still have access, but during the business hours in the Pacific time zone, the board will not be available.
This is also a good reminder for me to request the e-mail addresses of anyone new to the board who may want to be contacted if the board has to relocate. (This happened a few times last year when we were using a different server and had a different web hostess.) I have a mailing list for that purpose which remains private, but if you are not sure you are on it, please let me know. Or at least keep mine on hand to request an update if for some reason you do have problems accessing the board. I can be contacted at surlalune@aol.com.
I am also still in the process of archiving, so locked discussions will be disappearing soon off the board. Don't panic. I plan to have them archived elsewhere on the net for easy access before I take them off of EZBoard.

Re: Board down on April 24 Heidi: Just a quick note to say "thanks" again for all the work you do to keep this board, and the SurLaLune site, up and running. I love starting my work days with a bit of folklore discussion, and I'm grateful to you for making that possible.

seconds Heidi,
Let me second that thank you. It is so wonderful to have this great community of people. I have a small notebook by the computer which is rapidly becoming filled with titles, ideas, artists and music that I would have remained oblivious to without the generosity of someone like making this place possible!
one of these days we have a chance to get together and raise a glass to you. Hey I just remebered a great little drinking toast, originally intended as a toast to Queen Elizabeth, it was sung at country meals to honor the mistress of the house for all her work:
(so now imagining glass raised)
"The mistress's health may now begin
Inspite of the pope and the Spanish King
Oh she shall gold and riches in store
And when it is gone may she have some more.
Oh here's to you my brother John,
Tis almost time that we were gone,
We'll smoke, we'll drink, we'll stand our ground
And so let the mistress's health go 'round"

And a third... Visiting this site is always a bright spot in my day, as well.
The sense of community on this board provides so many good things; a place to find like-minded thinkers sharing great ideas, inspiration from artists I've always admired, a shelter when the rest of the world poo-poos the fairy tale / folklore realm, wonder-filled recommendations for things that feed the soul like art and textual references as well as music suggestions. Whew - entirely grand.
Thanks and cheers!

Thank you all! Well, I certainly feel I benefit the most from the board, but I am happy to read the thanks. It is always nice to feel appreciated...
Midori, thank you for the toast, too. How fitting that my husband's name is John! I will have to share it with him and bask in his jokes of my being his queen.

me too! I want to add my thanks also. I don't make it on to this board as often as I'd like lately, but when I do, it's always a great, great pleasure to. I'm convinced we have one of the nicest of web communities here, so generous and so free of ego, in addition to some of the most interesting discussions. Long live the queen!
