please help me find what cinderella version this is.
It is an old movie. The strange thing about it was that the stepsister cut her toes off to fit in the shoe. I think there was some kind of black bird that said, "There's blood on the shoe, there's blood on the shoe. This one's not the bride for you!" If you can help me with more information about this movie, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

It's an old version, long before movies. Try Grimm.

I think this is the German version of the Cinderella story.

Yes sounds like an older version - try looking up variations on the name "Ashputtel"/"Aschenputtel"...

It's Grimm. On Surlalune you find all their fairy-tales; also the work by Marian Cox on the variations of Cinderella is on this website. Just check.

The poetess Anne Sexton in her book Transformations, rewrite several fairy-tales, among which Cinderella, and the motif of blood in the shoe is also there.

In Grimm the birds are pigeons, which are generally a symbol for love.

You're not alone... I remember that version of the story as a movie, but I can't find it ever!

A raven? That's Rushen Coatie.

Other birds: Katie Woodencloak, Aschenputtel , or The Sharp Grey Sheep
