the use of fairytales in advertising.HELP!!revised
hello everyone

im am doing my Final Year project on this subject and whilst i have looked at all previous discussion boards on the topic i was wondering does anyone have any ideas on what chapters i should include. what topics should i cover?i have already done a chapter on the tradition o f f.tales and how they have changed through the generations.
Within this i looked at what the fairytales may represent in todays society.I have also deconstructed my images using a semiotic approach and am currently working on the theme of beauty in f.tales esp snow white and beauty in advertising.Zipes and marina Warner i have found very useful for this section. I have handed in my proposal but i am looking to improve it so if anyone had any thoughts PLEASE let me know! any help would be great ..

thanks a million
have a nice day :D :D :D :D

Re: the use of fairytales in advertising.HELP!!
Pix,

Why don't you share your proposal somewhat so no one is reinventing the wheel for your assignment? We like to give advice, but these type of questions without any input from the original poster tend to get ignored.

Don't be embarrassed by what you have already written in your proposal. We are all learning and are students at some stage of life. None of us bite. Really. And you're anonymous, so there's really no need to feel intimidated.

It's really the difference between receiving experienced help on the board and not. (Everyone here is nice--the only inconsiderate person is regularly blocked when he finds new ways around the existing blocks.) We want to help, but give us something to work with. :) Your topic is popular so I imagine you will receive feedback if we have something to bounce off of.

Heidi

Try Max Luthi--can't remember exact title of book, but it has something on beauty in fairy tales.

Re: the use of fairytales in advertising.HELP!!
I'm not exactly sure what kind of info you are looking for, but we have a few examples of fairytale use in advertising here in the Netherlands.

A good example is a series of posters on organ donation, listing the various 'myths' about being a donor, with the encompassing title of "Don't believe in fairytales". It uses a variety of wellknown tales such as Hansl & Gretl, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and one with a knight, a princess, and a dragon.

This is my first post here, by the way - looks like a great place! So hi from me (Oscar from the Netherlands).
