Also looking for a story- 'Hot as summer, Cold as winter'
I am looking for the title and a book/website where this fairy tale / story can be found. The story is about a princess whose father, the king, is determined that she marry. She is not so excited about the prospect, as most of her suitors are dull, boring or stupid. The princess and her father finally agree to a 'contest', the winner of which will marry the princess. The contest is to bring to the princess a food that is 'hot as summer, cold as winter'. Several try and fail until one creative, handsome, intelligent guy shows up with with something like ice cream with some sort of hot sauce (hot fudge?).. who knows. In any event, the princess decides this is the guy for her, dad is happy, and they all live happily ever after.

OK, my replay of it sounds trite, but the seemingly impossible mix of 'hot as summer, cold as winter' is a concept that stays with me. I would appreciate any help to find the story.

I feel sure this was a story in a book that was a collection. I think I would have read it late sixties, early seventies. Thank you.

Re: reply
I read a variation on this story years ago, but in this case it was a spoiled little prince who refused to eat anything until he was served something that was "Hot and Cold at the same time." None of the palace chefs could do it, so again a clever lad appeared...

The answer was also ice cream with hot fudge sauce.

Not much help, because I also don't remember the original book.
