folklore of the catskills
Does anybody know any other stories from that area of NY? I mean besides Rip Van Wrinkle?

You might try urban legends and ghost stories of the area. You're likely to find them attached to historical sites.

There's also the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow", though it originated a little further south (Tarrytown).
