Forgotten FairyTale
Hi - I need help. I had a book when I was young that I can't remember many details about nor of course the title. The cover had a boy on it and I think he was upside down, and the name was something of a rhyme - like Silly Billy or something. The basic thing I remember about it was the boy was awfully silly, but he came upon these 7 men who were like farmers or brothers or something, and they were very upset because they thought one of them was missing. This happened when any one of the 7 counted themselves, but of course forgot to count themself, so they always came up with 6. But when Silly Billy (or whatever) came along, and the men told them of their problem, he said he could find the missing man for some gold or coins or something, and when Billy counted of course he came up with 7 and the men were so happy and they gave him the money. I don't remember anything else, and am not even sure if what I remember is correct.

Please help!!

Re: Forgotten FairyTale
I have read a fairy tale -- perhaps several -- of this nature, though not under that name. It's a common type.

Unfortunately, I don't remember more of it than that.

Re: Forgotten FairyTale
Hi,

I think the story you are looking form is Seven Foolish Fisherman or a variant of this Noodlehead story. There is a very tellable version in one of the Hamilton and Weiss books, Noodlehead Stories From Around the World. I hope this helps.
