Complete Grimms
In my copious free time, I've been scanning and adding the notes and other materials from Margaret Hunt's translation of Grimms, especially the notes for each tale, the preface, and the introduction by Andrew Lang to the 2 volume edition. To my knowlege, only the actual tales have been available on the web previously.

The etext is still very much under construction, since I am editing the OCR scans word by tedious word, but I hope to have it up in its entirety by the end of October. Anyway, the notes are extensive and include alternate versions and other information that is rarely seen in other editions of the tales.

You can visit it at: Household Tales by the Brothers Grimm

Thanks
Thanks Heidi, for all your efforts. My storytelling students find your site an invaluable resource -- as I do.

Re: Thanks
Oh, this is going to be really helpful! Thank you, Heidi! This also seems like an appropriate place to ask: does anyone know anything about the correspondence between the Grimms and Achim von Arnim? I've been told they had an interesting debate about the collector's responsibility to a text, and whether one was bound to preserve it word-for-word or free to adapt it for personal or professional reasons as just another link in the tradition. I'm researching the way the Grimms used the term "tradition:" whether they saw it as impermeable object or a conveniently flexible word to bend to their purposes (which they clearly did). I really need those letters, ideally in German, to do a close textual reading.
Thus far all I have found is the Grimms letters to Bettina von Arnim-- have I mixed something up, and did this conversation take place with Achim's wife?

Thank you!
Thank you, Heidi, you're wonderful!

It will be great to have the notes and the Lang material.
